Administrative Office of the Courts
The Judicial Information Center (JIC) consists of the following units:
Business Analysis Team
The Business Analysis Team has two primary duties, business analysis and project management. Business analysis consists of the development of detailed system requirements/specifications based on user business needs. Additionally, the team assists the courts in efforts to document and re-engineer their business processes and implement uniform best practices where technical solutions are involved. Project management involves the development and management of project plans, schedules, tasks, and resources for assigned projects. Coordination of procurement, communications and modifications to scope are also part of the project management function.
Secondary functions of the Business Analysis Team include application support (development of ad hoc queries/reports, analysis of data or program requirements, triage handling of data problems, etc.) and miscellaneous services such as analysis of data for conversions, mapping, table set-ups, change management, etc.
Data Administration Team
The Data Administration team works with other government branches, vendors, court personnel, consultants, and other JIC teams in establishing and maintaining the infrastructure that provides access to various court data. In addition, the Team has the role of Information Security Officer (ISO) for JIC, some courts, and certain agencies. The Team's perspective is oriented toward the data when meeting their responsibilities.
Using database management systems, monitoring and management tools, and design tools the data administration team strives to maintain high levels of data integrity and availability, system performance, and disaster recovery readiness. We also consult on database design and application optimization.
Deployment Team
The Deployment Team has the responsibility for bringing new or modified software out of the development phase and into production. This involves the following steps:
- Testing. All software must be thoroughly tested, using every possible "real-world" situation, to insure the reliability of the data. All existing processes with which the software will integrate must also be tested to insure the new/modified software is compatible.
- Training. The Deployment Team must coordinate all aspects of training, from identifying who will be affected when the software is put into Production, writing training manuals and conducting training.
- Post-Implementation Support. Questions on how to use the software, or requirements for additional training are handled by this Team
Development Team
The Development Team is involved with the development, design, testing, implementation and maintenance of automated systems used by the Delaware Judiciary. The team services the JP Courts, Court of Common Pleas, Family Court, Superior Court, Supreme Court, Court of Chancery and any other agency applications that interface with the previously mentioned courts.
The Development Team also develops web applications for the Judicial Intranet site such as CRiS (Court Roaming Information System) and CourtDox (searchable database of forms, opinions, communications and documents). For the Judicial Internet site, the team strives to provide a world-class web site.
Help Desk/Technical Support Group
The JIC Helpdesk provides technicians and technical resources to resolve networking, computer hardware/software, telephone and courtroom technology issues within court facilities. Technical staff are stationed throughout the state in order to provide the quickest possible response to issues and requests as they occur. Other services provided include strategic planning, pricing and implementation plans for court projects related to these areas of technical support.
