Information for Pass Applicants 2008 Delaware Bar Examination
If you passed the 2008 Delaware Bar Examination, your Certificate Recommending Admission will be issued after you have completed your five-month clerkship requirement (including the checklist), evidenced successful completion of the MPRE, and satisfied all other requirements for admission to the Delaware Bar. When your clerkship has been completed, please submit the clerkship checklist, fully executed by you and your Preceptor, to the Board's Executive Director, Sarah Arnold. Please be sure to consult Supreme Court Rule 52(a)(8) concerning the clerkship requirement. Your checklist must be received by the Board by Thursday, November 20, 2008 if you wish to be included in the Thursday, December 11, 2008 admission ceremony. (See footnote below.) DUTY TO UPDATE Under Board Rule 7, you have an ongoing duty to promptly supplement the responses in your bar application if any of the answers ceases to be correct or current. This duty is applicable until the time at which you are admitted to the Bar. You will be contacted by a member of the Board’s Character and Fitness Committee and will be required to meet with the Board member to discuss your application. These meetings will take place in October and November. Be sure that your application is current and you have submitted any necessary updates. Under Board Rule 7, you have an ongoing duty to promptly supplement the responses in your bar application if any of the answers cease to be correct or current. The duty is applicable until the time at which you are admitted to the bar. Supplements should be submitted to the Board’s office with a copy to your assigned Board member. MANDATORY PRE-ADMISSION CONFERENCE Before admission, you must attend the two-day Pre-Admission Conference, which will be held on Thursday and Friday, November 13 and 14, 2008, at Widener University School of Law, Moot Court Room, 4601 Concord Pike, Wilmington, Delaware. The Conference is convened under the authority of Supreme Court Rule 52(a)(9) and is deemed to constitute a session of Court. Therefore, you must dress professionally. Please note that attendance at the entire Conference is mandatory. Your absence may only be excused by permission from the Delaware Supreme Court through a written request to Stephen D. Taylor, Supreme Court Administrator. ADMISSION CEREMONY Those candidates who have completed their clerkship and other admission requirements shall register with the Clerk of the Supreme Court during registration between the hours of 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 2 at the Supreme Court Chambers, Carvel State Office Building, 820 N. French Street, 11th Floor in Wilmington, or on Wednesday, December 3 at the Supreme Court Building, 55 The Green in Dover. In order to register, you will be expected to do the following:
In addition, in order to assist the Board and the Delaware Supreme Court in scheduling the Admission Ceremony, you must return the Admission Ceremony Questionnaire to the Board on or before October 22, 2008. This form may be completed online before printing. The Admission Ceremony will take place on Thursday, December 11, 2008 at 1:30 p.m., to be held at the Schwartz Center for the Arts in Dover. Admittees are permitted to bring three (3) guests. *Only applicants who have complied with Supreme Court Rule 52(c) will be able to comply with numbers (1) and (2) on this list. Applicants should submit their clerkship checklists to Sarah Arnold at 820 North French Street, 11th Floor, Wilmington, Delaware, 19801 by Thursday, November 20, 2008. Be sure to include a current address and phone number on your checklist. Certificates of Admission will be distributed by Ms. Arnold during registration on the dates named above.
