Most Justice of the Peace Court locations will be closed Friday, March 29, in observance of Good Friday. Justice of the Peace Court 11 (New Castle County) and Court 7 (Kent County) will remain open 24 hours and Justice of the Peace Court 3 (Sussex County) will be open from 0600-2400 (no new cases after 2300).

The Sussex County Courthouse is closed today March 28, 2024, due to a water leak.

The Delaware State Courts will be closed on Friday, March 29, 2024 in observance of Good Friday. Justice of the Peace Court 11 (New Castle County) and Court 7 (Kent County) will remain open 24 hours and Justice of the Peace Court 3 (Sussex County) will be open from 6AM-Midnight (no new cases after 11PM).

Speaker's Bureau


The Justice of the Peace Court has developed a Speakers Bureau, consisting of Judges and court staff to speak to local organizations about the procedures of the Court. The list of topics (below) include civil procedure, criminal proceedings, history of the court and employment. There is no charge for a speaking engagement and our hope is to help the community better understand the processes and procedures of the Court so that individuals can more effectively use our court without confusion or frustration.
