ADVISORY COMMITTEE ON INTEREST ON LAWYER TRUST ACCOUNTS
Purpose: The purpose of the Advisory Committee on Interest on Lawyer Trust Accounts is to oversee and monitor the operation of the Delaware Interest on Lawyers Trust Account Program, as established pursuant to Rule 1.15 of the Delaware Lawyers' Rules of Professional Conduct. Membership: The Advisory Committee on Interest on Lawyer Trust Accounts consists of six members appointed by the Delaware Supreme Court for three year, staggered terms or until such time as their successors shall be appointed, or such other terms as may from time to time shall be fixed by the Delaware Supreme Court. These Rules govern the testing and procedures for admission to the Bar of the Supreme Court of the State of Delaware. Membership: The Board of Bar Examiners consists of such number of members of the Delaware Bar as the Delaware Supreme Court shall determine. Each of the three counties are represented on the Board. BOARD ON PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITY
http://courts.delaware.gov/odc Purpose: The purpose of the Board on Professional Responsibility, the Preliminary Review Committee and the Office of Disciplinary Counsel is to regulate the professional conduct of the members of the Delaware Bar. Matters heard by the Board, upon petition filed by the Office Disciplinary Counsel after approval by the Preliminary Review Committee, are subject to review by the Delaware Supreme Court. Membership: The Board on Professional Responsibility and the Preliminary Review Committee (PRC) consist of such persons as the Delaware Supreme Court shall from time to time designate by order of appointment. The Board and PRC members are appointed for three year terms. No member may serve more than two consecutive terms. One third of the members of the Board and the PRC are public members who are not members of the Delaware Bar and the remainder shall be members of the Delaware Bar in good standing. Membership: The Board on the Unauthorized Practice of Law consists of nine members appointed by the Delaware Supreme Court. Each of the counties must have a representative. Six lawyer members and three public members are appointed to the Board. Members are appointed for three year terms. No members may serve more than two consecutive terms. COMMISSION ON CONTINUING LEGAL EDUCATION
http://courts.delaware.gov/cle Purpose: The purpose of the Commission on Continuing Legal Education is to ensure that minimum requirements for continuing legal education are met by Delaware attorneys in order to maintain their professional competence throughout their active practice of law. Membership: The Commission on Continuing Legal Education consists of six members who are appointed for three year terms by the Delaware Supreme Court. No member may serve more than two terms. One Commission member shall be a member of the Judiciary. No more than one commission member may be a person who is not an attorney. Under the Commission's rules, it is desirable that Commission members be from various geographic areas and types of practice to reflect the diversity of the Delaware Bar. JUDICIAL EDUCATION COMMITTEE
Purpose: The purpose of the Judicial Education Committee is to plan for and provide opportunities for the members of the Delaware Judiciary to attend continuing judicial legal education seminars and programs. Membership: The Judicial Education Committee consists of one member from each of the Supreme Court, the Court of Chancery, the Superior Court, the Court of Common Pleas, the Family Court. The Justice of the Peace Courts have a separate judicial education program. Members are appointed by the Delaware Supreme Court for three year terms. LAWYERS' FUND FOR CLIENT PROTECTION
http://courts.delaware.gov/lfcp Purpose: The purpose of the Lawyers' Fund for Client Protection is to establish, as far as is practicable, the collective responsibility of the legal profession with respect to losses caused to the public by defalcations of members of the Delaware Bar. Membership: The Lawyers' Fund for Client Protection consists of nine members or trustees of which seven trustees shall be members of the Delaware Bar and two trustees who shall be public members who are not members of the Delaware Bar. The trustees are appointed by the Delaware Supreme Court for four year terms with no trustee appointed for more than two consecutive terms. Each county shall be represented on the Fund. The Court also appoints five Associate Trustees to assist the Fund members. Associate Trustees are appointed for four year terms. There shall be at least one Associate Trustee from each county. JUDICIAL ETHICS ADVISORY COMMITTEE
(Committee of the Court on the Judiciary) http://courts.delaware.gov/jeac Purpose: The purpose of the Judiciary Ethics Advisory Committee is to express, at the request of a judicial officer, the Committee's opinion, by the concurrence of a majority of its members, on proper judicial conduct with respect to the provisions of the Delaware Judges' Code of Judicial Conduct, the Code of Conduct for Law Clerks, and other judicial branch codes of conduct adopted by the Delaware Supreme Court. Membership: The Judicial Ethics Advisory Committee shall consist of seven members appointed by the Chief Justice of the Delaware Supreme Court for staggered terms of three years. No member may serve more than two consecutive terms. One member each shall be appointed from the Court of Chancery, the Superior Court, the Family Court, the Court of Common Pleas and the Justice of the Peace Court. The Chief Justice shall appoint a Justice of the Delaware Supreme Court to serve as the administrative liaison between the Court on the Judiciary and the Judicial Ethics Advisory Committee.
