The Honorable Kathleen M. Miller, Judge

Judge Miller was appointed to the Superior Court on September 27, 2023. She received a B.A. in Accounting from Villanova University and a J.D., cum laude, from Delaware Law School. Upon graduation, Judge Miller clerked in the Court of Chancery for then-Vice Chancellor Maurice A. Hartnett III.

Judge Miller then joined Smith, Katzenstein & Jenkins LLP, where she practiced for 32 years before joining the Court. While at the firm, Judge Miller’s practice focused on corporate and commercial litigation, tort litigation, and insurance coverage disputes in the Court of Chancery, the Superior Court, including its Complex Commercial Litigation Division, and the District of Delaware. Judge Miller also argued before the Delaware Supreme Court and the Third Circuit Court of Appeals.

In 2021-2022, Judge Miller served on the Steering Committee of the Delaware Supreme Court’s Diversity Strategic Planning initiative, as well as Moderator of its bar working group subcommittee. Judge Miller is a member of the Delaware State Bar Association (“DSBA”), serving on its Executive Committee in various roles, including as President for the 2021-2022 term. Judge Miller also Co-Chaired the Women and the Law Section (2015-2016) and its Retreat Committee (2009-2019). She also served on the Delaware Board of Bar Examiners (2011-2016).

Judge Miller is a member of the American Bar Association, serving as Co-Chair of the Corporate Counseling and Litigation Subcommittee (2016-2019) and on the Business Tort Subcommittee (2021 to present).

Judge Miller is the recipient of the DSBA’s 2023 Women’s Leadership Award, which is awarded to a member of the Delaware Bar whose character, strength, personality, achievement, and activities in matters affecting women lawyers have served as an inspiration to and a model for women lawyers in their professional careers. She is also 2023 Honoree of the DSBA LGBTQ+ Section’s Annual award for contributions to support diversity, equity, and inclusion in the Delaware Bar.
