2026 Delaware AOC Court Interpreter Certification/Qualification Program

All candidates wishing to become certified or otherwise qualified must complete a qualification and registration process consisting, in summary, of four steps: orientation seminar, written exam, oral exam, and a background check. The dates for each step in the qualification process are below.

Oral Exam ALL oral exams will take place at the Leonard L. Williams Justice Center in Wilmington, DE September 15, 16, and 17, 2026
OPI ALL Oral Proficiency Interviews (OPI) will take place at an AOC office in Wilmington, DE Scheduled individually

 Introduction to the Oral Exam:

A presentation on the Oral Exam is scheduled for Thursday, May 7, 2026, 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. All candidates who have passed the Written Exam are welcome to attend. Eligible candidates will be able to register after April 30 by emailing jennifer.figueira@delaware.gov. Location is to be determined. This presentation may be offered entirely via Zoom.

Court interpreter seminar and exam procedures were modified to comply with the Judicial Emergency issued March 15, 2020 to slow the spread of COVID-19. Please read all announcements carefully and visit our Response to COVID-19 web page before visiting a courthouse.
